Journalist Nicky Taylor travels to Amsterdam to investigate the growing debate about the legal classification of cannabis. While there she helps out in a coffee shop that sells the drug, and discovers first hand what the effects of cannabis are on everyday life. Back in the UK Nicky finds out about the genetically modified cannabis skunk, cheap and increasingly sold on the streets. The programme asks whether the drug can make you mad, if it is worse than alcohol and if it is stronger than it used to be. Nicky takes part in a month-long medical trial to find out.

\trickstar/

Neophyte is an influential and well-known hardcore, or gabber, group formed in 1992 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The three original members are Jeroen Streunding (DJ Neophyte), Danny Greten and Robin van Roon.
Jeroen was deejaying and organising smaller parties around 1990 before he met Danny at a local party. The two of them decided to work on some tracks together. Robin van Roon also joined them after a while. Having produced some tracks on an old Amiga Computer with Protracker, the three went to visit DJ Paul Elstak who had just started his label Rotterdam Records where they hoped to be contracted. But DJ Paul Elstak considered their tracks to be pure noise. Several months and several try-outs later, Paul suddenly liked their tracks and decided to release them on his label. Years went by, as Danny, Jeroen & Robin got more releases, and started performing on parties. In 1995 Robin van Roon left the group for his studies and Jarno Butter, a guitarist and good friend of Danny, was added for their live acts.
Neophyte recently released a compilation album dedicated to their 13 years of existence titled 13 Jaar Terreur [1], which means ‘13 Years of Terror’. It also contains tracks of the Neophyte crew released under different names like “Bodylotion”. Neophyte is also running a record label called Neophyte Records, currently hosting artists such as Tha Playah, DJ Panic and Evil Activities.

Peter-Paul Pigmans (January 31, 1961, Berkel - August 27, 2003, Rotterdam) was a Dutch gabber music producer, best known for his production under the pseudonym 3 Steps Ahead.
Pigmans’ music is widely considered one of the most innovative specimens of the gabber genre; while many gabber producers favor raw force and little virtuosity when creating a song, Pigmans’ music always had a strong technical side, and his songs often featured atmospherical elements, an unusual thing in the genre at the time. He was also known for his extremely wild live shows.
Pigmans was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1999. On July 18, 2003 in Zaandam at the Hemkade stadium, fellow Dutch producers organized a fundraising “belated birthday party” for him where the cream of the Dutch gabber scene performed (for free - all income was spent on his treatment in hope of curing him) and paid respect to him. A couple of weeks later, he died. Two months later the annual Thunderdome started with a one-minute silence in his memory.
